Information for Your Stay

Welcome to the beginning of your South Whidbey Island adventure at Heartsease Log Cabin!

Check-In: The cabin will be ready for a 3pm check-in.  We try to keep enough time between rentals so that usually we can offer early check-in or late check-out per guest request with enough advance notice.  You will need access to the code you were sent when you first made your reservation.

The address can be found on our Airbnb site.  Most guests will take the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry

Kitchen:  There should be plenty of dishes, pots & pans, and basic kitchen supplies, including condiments, oils, seasoning, and some baking staples.  In addition to regular appliances, there is a French press, a grinder, coffee maker, ice cream maker, George Foreman grill, griddle, and popcorn air popper.  The faucet on the far right of the kitchen sink is a high-grade water filter. There is no dishwasher, sadly.  We apologize in advance if any of the dishes match; they will be broken and replaced with thrift store treasures by your next visit!

Bedrooms: We alternate cotton and flannel sheets by season, and have at least two pillows per guest.  There are spare blankets aplenty stored in the guest room.  Kids' room also has pack-and-play and kid picnic table under a bed, and booster sheets in the closet.

Guests have access to outdoor grill (cooks on the cool side) and picnic table on the deck.  Outdoor furniture and games, roasting sticks, swings are stored in the log-built shed.  Cabin has WiFi, Xbox One S (DVD/BluRay player), Netflix, and cozy propane fireplace.  There are toys, books, and games for about every age group.

House Rules

1) Check in is 3pm and check out is by noon.  Depending on availability, we may be able to be flexible on the times.

2) We are sensitive to guests with allergies and prohibit smoking on the property and have pet restrictions.  Please inquire about pets if you want to bring yours with you.

3) Owners are not responsible for lost items, but we will do our best to reunite you with items you leave behind.  Guests will be responsible for shipping costs.

4) Please clean out the grill after each use. Moldy grease is yucky!

5) We have excellent neighbors and want to maintain good standing in the neighborhood by renting only to guests who are respectful of people and property.  We have asked our neighbors to call me about groups that are unusually loud, exceed the allowed number of guests, light fires during burn bans, or in any way create disturbances in the neighborhood.   Excessive noise complaints will also be directed to the non-emergency police.

6) We try hard to keep as much out of the landfill as possible here in the Northwest.  If you want to participate, island recycling directions are posted in the fridge and on the recycling bins in the shed. Regular kitchen scraps can be composted in the green bin.

7) Guests using the fire pit are responsible keeping it safe and following any local burn bans.  This includes not leaving the fire (or young children!) unattended and extinguishing it when you done.  Up-to-date information on local burn bans can be found at https://www.swfe.org/public-information/burn-ban-info/.

8) In addition to the basics of TP, paper towels, we also try to provide staples and condiments, that guests are free to use. Make yourself at home!

Check-Out

rPlease leave all used sheets, towels, and bathmats on the laundry room floor and get at least one load washed in hot water and into the dryer. Clean laundry can be left in the dryer or in the green laundry baskets to clearly differentiate it from dirty laundry.

rWash all dishes.  It's fine to leave dishes out to dry.

rReturn items to their original location.

rMake sure thermostats are set between 55-60°F.

rIf you are recycling, please separate recycling as indicated on the refrigerator.  The log shed has bins with sorting instructions for all the items recycled on the island.

rIf you are composting kitchen scraps, place the bio-bag in the green compost bin out back that you can see from the kitchen window.

rIf you used the grill, please thoroughly clean for the next guest.  There will be a $20 extra cleaning fee for leaving a “yucky” grill.

rClose and lock all windows and doors, including shed.

rPlease sign the guest book if you have time.

Happy Cabin-ing!
